Questions and answers

About EDÀ

What the platform does, how it uses AI, how to get started, and how EDATECH works with schools and partners.

What are EDÀ and EDATECH?

EDATECH (Educational Data Technology, Nigeria Limited) is the company. EDÀ is its product: a learning platform for secondary schools in Nigeria, used by pupils, teachers, parents and school leaders, each in their own portal. It went live in September 2026.

What does a pupil actually do on it?

Takes quizzes in every subject they are taught, drawn from a bank of over 35,000 questions that a reviewer has approved. Follows a personalised learning plan that says what to study next and why. Works through short learning journeys on a topic, with checkpoint quizzes. Talks to Eddey, an AI tutor, on the Teach and Transform plans. Plays twenty-two learning games built on the same questions. Sees reports, a learning league, achievements and an effort score.

What does a teacher get?

A class heatmap showing every pupil against every topic, each pupil’s quiz history, a week-by-week scheme of work per class, a tool to set quizzes, games and exam papers, lesson plans drafted from the scheme of work for the teacher to edit and save, a resource library, wellbeing signals, and reports they can add their own comment to.

What does a parent see?

A family dashboard for each child: progress, this week’s topics, recent quizzes, the wellbeing band, league position and medals, and reports with a PDF to download. Parents are emailed when a child’s wellbeing band changes to amber or red.

Which curriculum and which years?

The Nigerian secondary curriculum, JSS1 to SSS3, with over 4,500 learning objectives mapped. New subjects are added as their questions pass review. Ask at the demo about the subjects your school teaches.

Is there a mobile app?

Not at present. The platform runs in the browser on a phone, tablet or computer, and the pages are built to fit a phone screen. An internet connection is needed.

Where does AI come in?

Eddey, the tutor, which asks questions back and guides a pupil to the answer. An assistant on every page that answers questions about the platform. Lesson plans and exam papers drafted for teachers to edit. Projects on the Transform plan. The written summary at the top of each report. Nothing else: quiz questions come from the reviewed bank, not from AI.

Does the AI mark work or decide grades?

No. Quizzes are marked against the reviewed answers. Reports show the pupil’s results; the AI only writes the plain-language summary of them, which a teacher can supplement with their own comment.

What stops AI use running away?

Every AI feature has a monthly allowance per person that depends on the plan, a daily limit per school, and a rate limit per minute. One switch turns every AI feature off for everyone. A school on the Transform plan can buy additional use if it wants more.

What pupil information reaches the AI?

As little as possible. Email addresses, phone numbers and ID numbers are removed before any text is sent. In the tutor and the assistant, a pupil’s name is replaced with a placeholder and put back in the reply. Report summaries use a pupil’s first name so the text reads naturally.

How does the tutor help a pupil who keeps getting a topic wrong?

Eddey asks what the pupil thinks and why, breaks the idea into smaller steps, and gives the answer outright only when asked. The learning plan also responds: a topic a pupil keeps missing, or a prerequisite they have not yet covered, moves up the list of what to do next.

How does a school join?

By invitation. After a demo, a school leader receives a link and completes a six-step setup: class structure, school details, headcount, plan and branding. The platform then creates licence codes for every teacher and pupil, with printable registration cards, and the school starts on a thirty-day trial. There is no open sign-up.

How do I sign in to EDÀ?

At app.edatechai.com, or through Login at the top of this page.

How do I register?

With the licence code your school gives you. Go to app.edatechai.com/register, or scan the QR code on your registration card, and enter the code. The page shows your school’s name, then asks for your details and a password. Teachers, pupils and parents each have their own code, and a parent registers after their child. Pupils do not need an email address; teachers and parents verify theirs. If you do not have a code, ask your school, or write to admin@edatechai.com.

Can a parent follow more than one child?

Yes. Each child’s registration card carries a parent code; add each child from the family dashboard with their code.

Does it work offline?

No. It needs an internet connection. The pages are served from a network with a point of presence in Lagos, so they load quickly on a normal mobile connection.

Who are the different users?

  • School leader or administrator: sets the school up, hands out codes, generates reports for the whole school, manages branding and billing.
  • Teachers: see their classes, set work, draft lesson plans and reports.
  • Pupils: practise, follow their plan, play, see their reports.
  • Parents: follow their own children.
  • EDATECH staff: invite schools, review questions and look after the platform. They do not see a school’s pupils’ work in the course of ordinary use.

What are the benefits of EDÀ for pupils?

  • The right practice: quizzes and a plan that start from what each pupil has and has not yet understood.
  • Help when stuck: a tutor that guides rather than tells, available whenever the pupil is working.
  • Feedback they can act on: every quiz shows what was missed, and the plan says what to do about it.
  • Reasons to keep going: games, a league, achievements and an effort score that rewards consistency.

What are the benefits of EDÀ for teachers?

Less time finding out where each pupil is, because the heatmap shows it. Less time building a quiz or an exam paper. A first draft of a lesson plan or a report to edit instead of a blank page. Ready-made question sets, slides and revision notes for the week.

How does EDÀ involve parents?

Parents see what their child did this week, the reports as soon as they are published, and a note when something needs attention, all in plain language with a few suggested questions to ask at home.

What measurable impact has EDÀ had on student performance and teacher workload?

Through pilot programs, EDÀ has demonstrated significant improvements, including a 25% increase in student test scores and a 72% reduction in teacher marking time. Furthermore, trials have shown improvement in external examination success rates from 50% to 74% within a year. The platform has also shown to improve students' performance by as much as 1.8 grades annually. User studies indicate that 90% of teachers would be disappointed if the platform were not fully built, and 70% of parents expressed willingness to pay more than 2.5 times the proposed price.

What are the plans?

Free, Learn, Teach and Transform. A school picks one plan for all its pupils; the plan decides which features are on and the monthly AI allowances. Learn adds the personalised learning plan; Teach adds the tutor, lesson plans, termly reports and the resource library; Transform adds monthly reports, projects and larger allowances. Families whose school is on the platform can also hold a plan for their own child.

What does EDÀ cost?

Prices depend on the number of pupils and are given at the demo. Schools pay by bank transfer against an invoice. Book a demo or write to admin@edatechai.com.

How does EDATECH distribute its revenue?

EDATECH implements a revenue distribution formula, sharing a percentage of the revenue with schools and state governments. For example, a common model involves distributing 30% to schools, 20% to state governments, and retaining 50% for EDATECH. Other models include 20% to state government and 80% retained by EDÀ, or 100% retained by EDÀ, depending on the partnership.

How can organisations partner with EDATECH?

  • Scholarships: funding access for pupils whose families cannot pay.
  • Quiz competitions: sponsoring regional and national competitions, covering organisation, prizes and participant support.
  • In-kind support: venues, computers and internet access for schools, or expertise in AI, marketing and project management.
  • Collaborations: working with local schools on rollout, teacher training, STEM workshops and mentoring.

What is EDATECH's vision?

A future where people everywhere are not just educated but equipped with the skills and mindset to thrive and lead in the digital economy beyond 2050. Our aim goes beyond traditional learning to the whole development of a person, so that everyone can contribute to an increasingly technological world.

What is EDATECH's mission?

To change how education is provided, with a particular emphasis on Sub-Saharan Africa, using AI and emerging technologies: to close gaps, raise outcomes, and give every child fair access to education that lets them reach their potential.

What are EDATECH's values?

Education turns children into responsible citizens who contribute to their nation and excel in the digital age. Beyond academic instruction we aim to instil the principles that matter in a digital economy:

  • Resilience: the ability to adapt and overcome challenges.
  • Collaboration: working with others towards common goals.
  • Creative thinking: inventive problem-solving.
  • Vision: looking ahead and setting goals.
  • Drive: motivation and determination from within.
  • Attention to detail: thoroughness and precision.
  • Process over outcomes: valuing how a result is reached.
  • Planning: foresight and organisation.

What educational challenge is this answering?

Sub-Saharan Africa faces low literacy rates, unequal access to quality education, severe teacher shortages, outdated teaching methods and overcrowded classrooms. Approximately three out of every four children in the region struggle to achieve the same academic standards as their global peers, which is often attributed to high pupil-teacher ratios, assessment that is summative and retrospective, and few ways to judge how well a curriculum is working at a fine level. EDÀ answers that with frequent, topic-level practice and a plan for each pupil, without adding a new distraction to the classroom.

How does EDATECH address concerns about AI in education?

We take the concerns UNESCO has set out seriously: inequity, surveillance and the loss of human connection. The platform is built so that AI assists pupils and teachers rather than replacing either: the tutor guides rather than tells, drafts for teachers are edited and saved by teachers, and every allowance and switch is in the school’s hands. We are committed to responsible data practices and to working with educators, parents and pupils on how the platform is used.

How is EDATECH committed to environmental sustainability?

By keeping the software efficient and by running it on cloud computing services powered by renewable energy sources.
